Although these alternatives to N95 medical masks will not protect the wearer from contracting COVID-19, the use of a non-medical mask or facial covering can be an additional measure you can take to protect others around you.
Wearing a non-medical mask is another way of covering your mouth and nose to prevent your respiratory droplets from contaminating others or landing on surfaces. A cloth mask or face covering can reduce the chance that others are coming into contact with your respiratory droplets, in the same way that the recommendation to cover your cough with tissues or your sleeve can reduce that chance.
Here is a link to the Federal Government’s Guidance on appropriate use of non-medical mask or face coverings. It outlines what non-medical cloth face masks should and should not do, as well as guidance on masks for children.
Yes! Our masks are made from two layers of 100% cotton fabric, with braided elastic ear loops.
Running your mask through a washing machine cleaning cycle, or thoroughly hand washing with soap and hot water should suffice. Your mask should be routinely washed. Do not reverse the mask and wear again in between cleanings. Metal nose bridge pieces should be removed when washing your mask, to prevent damage.
Although FabricMasks.ca is diligently following cleanliness guidelines, we recommend all buyers wash their masks when they receive them.
The design we use offers substantial facial coverage while maintaining ease of use and comfort. For most, our masks will span vertically from the bridge of the nose to under the chin, and horizontally from ear to ear.
Our masks sizes are “one size fits most.” Please refer to the sizing chart below this FAQ for reference.
- Small: good for kids
- Medium: good for most women, and some men
- Large: good for men, or those with wide faces
Due to the contagious nature of COVID-19, we cannot accept returns should the mask not fit your individual face as expected.
We use two layers of 100% cotton fabric, and braided elastic ear loop. Our masks also include a channel for metal nose bridge pieces, as well as a built-in filter pocket.
All of our masks are made in a smoke-free, pet-free environment.
Our masks are individually hand-made and therefore may contain design variations or small defects. These should not affect the usability of the masks.
Currently we are not equipped to produce masks made with custom fabric or sizes. We are producing masks with fabric we have on hand, therefore each combination of patterns is inherently limited. If you’d like to customize the look of your mask, visit our Build Your Own Mask page to choose from over 80 patterns and colours!
If you see a Fabric Mask in stock with a fabric pattern you like, buy it before it’s gone!
Yes! Our mask design incorporates a sewn channel into which metal nose bridge inserts can be placed for a snug fit. Additionally, a filter slot is built in to every mask.
Our masks are designed to be reversible, with two different patterns of fabric on either side. If you wish to reverse your mask, we recommend you remove the metal nose bridge insert first.
